Why are Rangoli drawn in front of the house?

What is Rangoli? - Most of the Indian homes will have colourful floor drawings in front patio or doorstep. Generally women draw new drawings every morning.

Reasons
  1. The fine granules used in the floor drawings are typically made from rice or wheat grains. India being a tropical country is home to millions of insects. Indian culture propogates the concept to live and let live not only among fellow humans but also other forms of life. By
drawing the rangoli, these small creatures can have their daily meal
  2. The rangoli also show cases the artistic capabilities of the Indians. The colorful floor drawings using dots and lines brings the concept of art into the daily lives of the Indians
  3. In the human evolution, men are known to go out and bring food for the family while the women are known to stay home to run the family. While the men got their daily dose of exercise in their work schedule, women were not getting enough activities. By doing these these floor drawings, the women had to bend, sit up and stretch. Though simple, these activities help the women in controlling obesity and gives them a daily exercise in the fresh morning air.

Hi, I came across two of your articles for the questions I had in my mind.
1) Why Indians break coconut in front of the God? and
2) Significance of Rangoli on floor.

I got the possible answers through your blog. Thank you very much! I appreciate your work. Keep going!
