Reasons
This lifestyle of praying to god everyday is planned to make ones life more streamlined and civilized. Unless a we fear over something or believe in something, an individual's mindset will never be capable of living within a society.
An excellent example is today's world. We fear the law that controls our way of life. But the sub concious mind always knows that the law can be broken with a simple fine.
But when a society is god fearing where the concept of after life plays an active role, even the sub concious mind is controlled. When a person fears about god or faith, it motivates his mind to adhere to a systematic way of life rather than be a nomad.
Problems
This idea of creating a god fearing society sounds good conceptually. But may not be fool-proof. Several myths and mind less beliefs creep into the mind about god resulting in a society that lags behind in development.
